I began racing 12 years ago...man that's awhile ago. Kenny Cochran and I started
out racing against each other in 1996. We had a couple of years of epic battles
between us until age and category split us up. I ended up racing MTB consistently
for 5-6 years and then started to do more road racing. I had finished 4th twice in the
expert DINO series overall and was looking for new challenges.
I raced the road hard for 5-6 years. Doing mostly masters age group races, so my
category is only a 3 and not any higher. I got to travel a lot with a good group of
teammates and do so fun and interesting races. I still like the speed and tactics of
road racing, but the carnage and chaos that goes along with it gets frustrating at
times.
I have turned the last couple of years to not racing much at all and have enjoyed just
riding. I have done some duathlons, endurance MTB racing, running races, and
Xterra races. My future will probably hold more of the same. Since Darin, Dave,
Kenny, and myself have now entered to do Leadville 100 MTB Race in August, most
of my training will be geared to this race.
